sensor coolant for temperature gauge

model: w124-ku-temp-se-lg

Description

The sensor for the coolant temperature gauge is located on the left-hand side of driving direction sideways in the cylinder head in the case of diesels, and also there or nearby in the case of gasoline engines. The housing color is black, the connector is single-pole - so the sensor is easy to identify. If the display in the instrument cluster (IC) does not function correctly and the instrument in the IC itself works properly, the temperature sensor is usually defective.

Tip: With jumping temperature readings (from normal values to full scale and back) the instrument contacts are almost always oxidized in the IC. A diagnosis can be made quickly: with the flat of your hand, strike the cover of the AI strongly from above. If the pointer then suddenly falls back to the usual value of the temperature display, the fault is in the IC. To remedy this, unscrew the instrument from the rear side and remove it when the IC is removed. The formerly shiny silver, now black oxidized round connectors become visible. Clean them with contact spray, etc. and reassemble them.
