Description
The keys for the door and ignition locks wear out with frequent use. The keys themselves are made of a softer material than the locking cylinder, so fortunately the key wears out first and then the locking cylinder.
The first sign of a worn key/locking cylinder is a slight jam when turning the key.
Please note: the door locking cylinders for the 124 are no longer available. This means that if one or more locking cylinders on a door is defective, the central locking system cannot be operated, and locking/unlocking with the standard key will not work. Before this meltdown occurs, a radio remote control (FFB) should be retrofitted to the Mopf 0 and Mopf 1 models (up to mid 93). We have been using the FBB from IncaPro for many years, and it has several advantages:
1. it works reliably
2. it has an excellent price-performance ratio
3. It offers additional functions (indicator control, etc)
4. Key blanks are available for the original DB locking systems, so that the central locking can be operated, the engine can be started and the doors can be unlocked in an emergency with a radio key.
5. It is very easy to install, ideally on the right side under the rear seat bench.
Exclusively at monopoel: we supply the FFB including two key blanks for W124 locks and two DB logo stickers in the central button of the radio key.
