The cylinder head gasket in the W124 250D lasts very long, but does not have an infinite life. If engine oil leaks between the cylinder head and the engine block or if oil pressure is lost in the area of the chain box (a known weakness of OM602) or if there are the usual defects of the cylinder head gasket (loss of compression into the cooling water or oil in the water or vice versa), a new cylinder head gasket is due.
The cylinder head bolts are reusable expansion bolts. Within a tolerance range (see DB's workshop information system) they can be reused unconsidered.
